Description

The bridge is located 5 km from the village - in the Dubov Pass (Boaza) over the fast flowing mountain river tributary of the Tundja. It was built during the reign of Emperor Trajan (98-117) and is a part of the old "Roman drum", included in the road network built by the Romans, who fortified and paved with cobblestones the roads through the old mountain passes that had been laid by the Thracians. This ancient bridge was declared a national antiquity by the State Gazette (No. 221 of 28.12.1927), and after 1944 it was also declared a protected natural site.
