Description

Svetitsa is a Thracian burial mound located near the town of. It is located near the town of Kran. The grave probably belongs to a Thracian ruler. The mound is part of a necropolis in the northern part of the Kazanlak valley, in the so-called Valley of the Thracian Kings. A walled grave was found under the mound. In it were found utensils and grave offerings. These include the famous gold mask with the face of a man (presumably Teres I) and weighing 673 g, a gold ring with the image of a youth, armaments (a chasuble, a quiver of arrows, 2 swords, several spearheads), 2 transport amphorae, 2 jugs with red-figure decoration, a silver cup, a bronze hydria, metal vessel handles and a clay cup. The finds are kept in the National Archaeological Museum in Sofia.
